SBC & Me

How does secondary breast cancer affect your life?

I now try to live each day feeling happy and positive. Even though I can't now do things I did before like scuba diving with hubbie. I get aching limbs so walking long distance is out of the question but try to walk a little each day.

What advice would you give to someone newly diagnosed?

Don't Google info. Look to our friends on our FB groups for advice. There will be good days and bad days so please realise that

SBC & My Treatment:

How are you coping?

Good days and bad days. But I have amazing support from my husband

Do the side effects affect your life daily? If yes, please explain

Yes. Side effects from letrozole mean my mobility isn't good but hey I have a funky walking stick I bought from Florida!

Have you found a routine that works for your everyday life? If yes, please explain

Yes. Still up at 6am. Old habits die hard. Shower, wash hair and put on make up. Then breakfast. Then rest as I'm exhausted after all that! Sit down with another cuppa and newspaper. After lunch I try to prepare dinner as I know I will be tired later. Plus at certain times during the cycle cat naps are the order of the day

Do you feel anything is missed when it comes to living with secondary breast cancer? Medically or Socially

Socially especially with Covid I've been nervous about going to places with lots of people. Medically people need to be educated that stage 4 isn't curable but treatable

Have you treated yourself to anything since your diagnosis? If yes, please explain

3 trips to USA while I had an annual travel insurance policy. And travelling premium for the comfort

Has it changed your perspective on life? If yes, please explain

Yes. I need to be with positive people. My husband is my rock and we plan on many good times together
